Connecting with the community is key to promoting and growing your business. The Small Business Centre hosts networking events to connect and inspire. You never know when one conversation could be the trigger that changes everything.

On Friday, May 26, 2017 we kicked off the Summer Company Program with a fun networking event at the Ashwood Bourbon & Bar in Bayfield. More than 60 individuals attended to chat, meet new people, enjoy some delicious food and drinks, and hear from guest speaker Jake Hirsch-Allen of LinkedIn. Jake discussed the path that led him to his work with LinkedIn, and how the workforce platform helps to fill employment gaps and mine data for the government and higher education institutions. Jake emphasized the importance of connecting with like-minded individuals to arrive in a career that aligns with one’s true value systems. And the path never ends… we must remain open to opportunities and possibilities to move with the changing economy and allow flexibility as we grow individually.  Jake even helped individual business owners identify niches in their markets. It was a truly inspiring night.

Guests were also introduced to the students who will be starting their own business as part of the Summer Company program. Watch for updates on our Summer Company students and their business contact information on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Thanks for attending, and we’ll see you at our next event on November 16th with guest speaker Sabrina Geremia from Google!
